| OUR FEES & POLICIES
World-class criminal defense is not cheap. But when your future is at stake, it is no time to cut corners, or sacrifice quality. The Law Firm of
Richard Glen Boire is dedicated to providing you with first-rate
legal representation, and we do our best to make it affordable.
With our law firm you will never be
confused about the cost of your legal representation.
We start every new client relationship with a contract. The contract spells out what you can expect from us, and what we expect from you. The contract also clearly spells out our fees and payment plans. If you ever have a question, just ask us.
No Surprises
Unlike many other law
offices, our fees are no secret. Plus, we guarantee no surprises or hidden costs.
For most legal services we
currently charge $395 per hour, plus costs. We can also quote flat
fees for certain cases or legal matters.
You can pay us with a
credit card, money orders, or cashier's checks, wire transfer, or paypal, and we offer payment plans.
Here are some general fee
guidelines:
Appeals of Drug Convictions
(learn more)
We are criminal appeal experts. The cost of an appeal varies based on several factors (e.g., length of
trial record, number of co-defendants at trial, state v. federal
case, number of counts, number of potentially meritorious issues,
length of sentence or other terms, etc).
Our minimum retainer fee to handle a criminal appeal is $15,000. In most cases, we hold this retainer in our trust account and bill against it as work is completed on your case. In some cases we can quote a flat fee for handling all aspects of your appeal, from
reviewing the trial transcripts,
investigating the case, identifying issues, preparing and filing briefs, and
arguing the case.
Depending upon the complexity of your case, we usually begin all appeals with a record review during which we review the transcripts of your trial or plea, and determine whether you have any potentially meritorious issues on appeal. If this review turns up promising issues, we will then litigate these issues in the Court of Appeal. The fee for a record review varies based on the length and complexity of your case, in general it costs approximately $3,500-$10,000.
